The Fort Myers Miracle put on their largest offensive display of the season crushing the Clearwater Threshers 14-5 on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium.
The Miracle set season highs in runs (14) and hits (17) and of the 11 players that played, 10 of them collected hits. Eight of the nine starters scored at least one run and the Miracle scored a run in six of the eight innings.
The Miracle for the 10th time in 12 games, allowed the opponent to score first when the Threshers put up two runs in the first inning, but that would be the last time the Miracle would trail all night.
The Miracle answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first. Three straight singles by Matt Tolbert, Matt Moses and Brock Peterson scored the first run and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Phillips plated the tying run.
The Miracle took the lead in the second on a sac fly from Denard Span.
They started to break it open in the third when Scott Whitrock hit a two-run triple and Felix Molina followed with an RBI single.
Moses finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored while Whitrock went 2-for-5 with a double, 3 RBI and two runs scored, and Ron Perodin went 3-for-5.
The Miracle send RHP Adam Harben (0-1, 4.70) to the hill against Thresher RHP Zach Segovia (1-1, 3.48) at 7:05 tonight.
