By SPECIAL TO THE NEWS-PRESS DUNEDIN — The Fort Myers Miracle hit four homers Wednesday night, including two by Brock Peterson, in a 10-1 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays at Knology Park. Of the 10 runs the Miracle scored, only two didn't come from home runs. The two runs came in the first when Scott Whitrock scored on a passed ball and Matt Moses scored on an RBI groundout by Kyle Geiger. In the second inning, Peterson went the opposite way — hitting a two-run homer over the right-center field wall for his second homer of the season. In the fourth, Whitrock joined his teammate with a towering two-run homer over the scoreboard in left-center to give the Miracle a 6-0 lead. Two innings later, Peterson crushed a three-run homer over the center field wall to make it 9-0. Peterson finished 2-for-4 with two homers, five RBI, two runs scored and a walk. It was the first time a Miracle hit two homers in a game since Michael Sandoval did it May 31 of last season. Matt Moses, who continues to eat up FSL pitching, hit his fourth homer of the season, a solo bomb over the right-center field wall. Moses went 4 for 5 with a homer, an RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base. Miracle starter Adam Harben tossed 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just four hits while walking three and striking out five. Josh Gray went 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief, striking out one. The teams meet at 7 tonight at Knology Park. The Miracle send right-hander Nick Blackburn (2-1, 2.37) to the hill against Blue Jay left-hander Davis Romero (0-2, 4.42). Webposted 04/28/05 |
