Daily News staff Matt Garza won a battle of first-rounders Thursday in Sarasota, hurling five strong innings to outduel Homer Bailey and the Sarasota Reds in a 7-3, season-opening win for the Fort Myers Miracle. Garza, taken in the first round by the Twins in 2005, allowed two runs (one earned) on just two hits while striking out four. He gave up a solo shot to Adam Rosales with two outs in the bottom of the first, then retired 11 straight before Cody Straight reached on an error in the fifth. Luke Hughes crushed a three-run homer in the third for a 3-1 lead. Fort Myers added two more in the fifth. Webposted on April 07, 2006
