By Special To The News-press TAMPA — The current Fort Myers Miracle pitching staff is making a case to be one of the best in the franchise's 15-year history. They earned their second shutout of the season — a two-hitter — behind five stellar innings from starter Matt Garza for a 7-0 victory over the Tampa yankees on Tuesday night at Legends Field. The Miracle improve to 6-0 on the season. Garza looked even more impressive in his second outing of the season than he did in his first, hurling five shutout innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out a career-high 10. The only hits he gave up were an infield single by Eduardo Nunez with one out in the fourth and a fly ball triple by Ben Himes in the fifth, which right fielder Erold Andrus lost in the lights. The Miracle pitching staff faced just two over the minimum with Ryan Callahan and Josh Hill tossing two shutout innings in relief, each striking out a pair. Garza struck out the first and third batters he faced in each of his five innings. The Miracle have now matched the second longest winning streak to begin a season in their 15-year history, tying the 2005 Miracle club at 6-0. The Fort Myers franchise record is 9-0 set in 1994. The Miracle will face the Yankees again at 7 tonight. Webposted on April 12, 2006
