Fort Myers News Press After starting the season 0-4, the Fort Myers Miracle have come back to win six of their last eight, including Wednesday night’s 7-4 victory over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. The Miracle won their third straight series thanks in part to 13 strikeouts recorded by the Miracle pitching staff on Wednesday night. In the three-game set, Lakeland hitters fanned a total of 33 times. Lakeland would knot the contest at three with a run in both the fifth and sixth. A solo home run by Ryan Roberson cut the Miracle lead to one, before a RBI single from Mark Haske in the fifth tied things up at 3-3. Little time was wasted by the Miracle regaining their advantage as the sixth started with back-to-back-to-back singles from Erik Lis, Jeff Christy and Edward Ovalle. Lis scored on Caleb Moore’s fielder’s choice, while Christy scored on the first of two wild pitches on the night. Facing a two-run deficit again, Lakeland trimmed the lead to one as Ovandy Suero hit an RBI single. Miracle reliever Frank Mata retired the next three hitters to leave two runners stranded in scoring position. Webposted on April 19, 2007
