TAMPA -- The Fort Myers Miracle lost to the Tampa Yankees 4-2 in game one of a Florida State League doubleheader that was shortened due to rain at Legends Field.

The Miracle got its offense going with Alex Romero. He led off the game with a solo homer to right, his fifth of the season. One out later, Danny Matienzo doubled off the top of the wall in left. After a single by Doug Deeds moved Matienzo to third, Elvis Corporan singled Matienzo home.

The Yankees answered back in the bottom of the first. With one runner on, Melky Cabrera went the opposite way and hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 2.

Bishop Verot graduate Tommy Winrow singled home the go-ahead run in the second inning to put the Yanks up 3-2.

Tampa added one more run in the fourth when Jayson Drobiak hit a solo homer to right.

After the third out was recorded in the top of the fifth inning, the umpires took the players off the field because of lightning. Shortly thereafter, the rain started to fall so the game was called at that point.

The teams will play a doubleheader at 5:05 today in Tampa.

The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes at the conclusion of game one.

The Miracle will send left-hander Ricky Barrett (5-1, 2.45) to the hill in game one, while the second-game starter had not been determined.
