Fort Myers drops home contest to DunedinBy SPECIAL TO THE NEWS-PRESS The Fort Myers Miracle looked to their best reliever with a one-run lead late in the game on Sunday afternoon, but the best-hitting team in the Florida State League — the Dunedin Blue Jays — scored four runs in two innings and the Miracle lost 5-2 at the Lee County Sports Complex. The Miracle trail co-leaders Dunedin and Lakeland by two games in the FSL West Division. Jan Granado, who led Miracle pitchers with a 1.91 ERA, was roughed up in the seventh and eighth innings. With Fort Myers leading 2-1 in the seventh, the Blue Jays tied it on Manny Mayorson's sacrifice fly to score Scott Dragicevich. Granado had two outs and a runner on first in the eighth when things got away from him. David Smith singled to put runners at first and second. Rodney Medina singled to drive home Mike Snyder and give the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead. After a wild pitch put runners at second and third, Dragicevich singled home both runners. Granado went two innings allowing four runs on six hits to receive his third loss in as many games. Brock Peterson's fly ball was lost in the sun by Dunedin's Carlo Cota in the fourth inning, falling in for an RBI single to score Angelo Fermin. In the fifth, Jose Leger's single with two out extended his hitting streak to eight games. He later scored on Justin Arneson's single to right-center. Miracle starter Anthony Swarzak went six innings, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out one. Webposted Published on December 8, 2005
