The Fort Myers Miracle had their pick of superheroes on Friday but still couldn't beat Lakeland in a Florida State League baseball game.

The L-Tigers slipped past the Miracle, 7-6, before 488 fans on Superhero night at Joker Marchant Stadium.

Lakeland's edge-of-your-seat win was the team's 11th in 16 meetings with Fort Myers this season. The L-Tigers are now 24-10 against the Miracle over the last two seasons, repeatedly defeating their West Division rival in close battles, always seemingly with a lot at stake.

The L-Tigers batted around and tallied five times in the third, bunching four hits with an untimely Miracle error.

Fort Myers immediately tied the game with two fourthinning runs but Lakeland scored single runs in the fourth and seventh to pull the game out.

Both teams will meet at Marchant again today at 6 p.m. in a game that will be followed by the usual Saturday night fireworks display.
