The Fort Myers Miracle split a doubleheader with Clearwater on Tuesday at Hammond Stadium, but remained in first place.

Fort Myers dropped the opener, 7-0, then came from behind to win the nightcap, 4-3. The Tampa Yankees split their doubleheader with the Sarasota Reds, so the Miracle lead the Yankees by one game and the Threshers by 1 1/2 with 13 games remaining.

In Game 2, the Miracle trailed 3-0 when Steve Tolleson led off the fifth with a double to center. With one out, Justin Arneson crushed a two-run homer to left-center, his third of the season, to make it 3-2. With two outs, Brandon Roberts drew a walk, and Trevor Plouffe followed with a two-run homer for a 4-3 lead.

The same two teams meet tonight for another doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m.

It is "Snakes on a Plain Ol' Wednesday Night" along with Wayback Wednesday (1986) presented by WJGO 102.9 FM. Non-venomous snakes will be at the stadium, and anyone named Samuel Jackson gets in free. Music from the band "Whitesnake" also will be played.
