The Fort Myers Miracle are peaking at the right time and, with 20 games left in the season, they have picked a good time to go on their longest winning streak of the year. They won their seventh consecutive game, defeating Jupiter on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium to remain atop the Florida State League’s Western Division.

The Miracle (30-20) pitching staff continued its dominance against the worst-hitting team in the league, running their scoreless streak against the Hammerheads to 19 consecutive innings and earning their league-leading 13th shutout of the season.

Miracle starter Oswaldo Sosa ran into trouble in the fifth inning. With one out, Brad Davis singled. With two outs, Steve Genrdon singled to right, putting runners at first and third. Sosa walked Carlos Piste to load the bases, but got Jai Miller to line out to right to end the inning. Sosa went six shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out two.

Chris Schutt earned his sixth save of the season by going the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

The teams meet at 7:05 tonight at Roger Dean Stadium. The Miracle will start left-hander Kyle Aselton (7-3, 3.33 ERA) against lefty Matthew Goyen (2-3, 4.77 ERA).
