By special to the Fort Myers News Press The Fort Myers Miracle’s magic number for clinching the Florida State League’s Western Division second-half title is down to three after Wednesday night’s 7-5 road victory against the Clearwater Threshers. Fort Myers could clinch the second-half title during its final two-game homestand of the regular season, beginning tonight against the Sarasota Reds. The Tampa Yankees defeated Sarasota 6-4 on Wednesday to remain 1.5 games back. The Miracle have five games left while the Yankees have just four. Should the two teams finish tied for first the Miracle hold the tiebreaker by virtue of winning the second-half season head-to-head series. Erold Andrus had a three-run homer and an RBI triple and Deacon Burns added a solo homer to lead the Fort Myers offense. Clearwater made it close in the ninth, scoring twice to make it 7-5 before Danny Powers struck out Brad Harman to end it. After home games against the Reds tonight and Friday night, the Miracle close out the regular season with two games in Sarasota. Webposted on August 31, 2006
