Special to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze DAYTONA BEACH — Behind Jay Rainville’s eight innings and the third home run in two nights by Erik Lis, the Fort Myers Miracle registered their third straight win Tuesday night, an 8-1 rout of the Daytona Cubs. Rainville earned his sixth win by allowing one run on six hits, with a pair of strikeouts. After a leadoff single by Cubs center fielder Jeffrey Rea and a quick RBI double by Steve Clevenger, the Cubs got their only run of the night in the first. Lis’ solo homer came in the fourth, plunking off the yellow pole in right field, tying the game 1-1. The Cub’s defensive woes continued with four errors that eventually led to seven more runs. With runners at first and second, Dustin Martin hit a double-play ball to second. The relay throw to first by shortstop Jonathan Mota was wild allowing Brian Dinkelman to score the go-ahead run. Juan Portes belted a RBI-triple to right and scored himself on a wild pitch, making it 4-1. Four runs on four hits, thanks in part to two more Daytona errors, gave the Miracle their final margin of 8-1 in the eighth. The Miracle (23-23) look to complete their first four-game sweep of the season Wednesday night against the Cubs. Webposted on August 8, 2007
