Another three-run first inning and seven sparkling innings by Kyle Waldrop led the Fort Myers Miracle to a 4-1 victory Friday night over the Brevard County Manatees at Hammond Stadium. The win is the sixth straight for the Miracle (26-23).

Waldrop’s allowed one run on three hits in his seven innings of work.

The three-run first began with Brian Dinkelman hit by a pitch, followed by a four-pitch walk to Steve Tolleson. After a one-out walk loaded the bases, a ground ball by Juan Portes plated Dinkelman with the first run.

On the same play, a throwing error allowed Tolleson to score as well and Danny Valencia made it a 3-0 lead with an RBI-single to right.

In the fourth, Portes blasted a solo home run, his eighth of the year, extending the advantage to 4-0. The lone Manatee run came across in the sixth as Nestor Corridor scored on Yohannis Perez’s single to right.

The Miracle look to make it a perfect 7-0 week Saturday night in the third game of this four-game series against Brevard County.

The Miracle will send right-hander Zach Ward (3-15, 3.21) against the Manatees’ Mike McClendon (4-3, 3.90) at 7:05 p.m.
