Special to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze TAMPA — Erik Lis homered twice Tuesday night as the Fort Myers Miracle knocked off the first-place Tampa Yankees 8-6. Lis belted a three-run homer in the fifth and a two-run blast in the seventh, helping the Miracle push their winning streak to nine straight games. They now are three games behind the Yankees in the Florida State League’s Western Division standings. The Miracle (29-23), who have made up five games in the standings while on their season-best streak, scored first on an RBI-groundout by Edward Ovalle in the second. After a two-run homer by the Yankees’ Andres Perez, and a sacrifice-fly from Chris Malec, Tampa took a 3-1 lead heading into the fifth. A five-run, four-hit attack sent the Miracle into the lead for good in the fifth. Danny Valencia led off with a double to left and scored on Jeff Christy’s single to center. Steve Tolleson added an RBI-single to right. Lis then followed with the first of two mammoth blasts to give the Miracle a 6-3 lead. Miracle relievers Danny Powers and Rob Delaney each worked around a Tampa hit in the eighth and ninth to preserve the win. The Miracle go for win No. 10 Wednesday with Jeff Manship (6-3, 2.63) on the mound against Tampa. Webposted on August 13, 2007
