Cape Coral Daily Breeze Staff Report The Fort Myers Miracle dodged most of the raindrops Monday night at Hammond Stadium, but they couldn’t avoid the Clearwater Threshers game two starter Andrew Carpenter. Carpenter capped off the Threshers’ twinbill sweep with a seven-inning perfect game. Carpenter went 21 up, 21 down with seven strikeouts, tossing the first seven-inning perfect game in 21 years. Clearwater behind a 13-hit attack won the opener 9-2 and blanked the Miracle 2-0 in the nightcap. Carpenter, a second-round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006, was left off the postseason all-star roster earlier in the day by the Florida State League. He then took out his frustration on the Miracle with the clean sheet. Carpenter now stands at 16-6 this season, an FSL high in wins, having tossed his third complete game and second shutout of the season. The Miracle have an off day Tuesday and play their final home game Wednesday. Webposted on August 28, 2007
