The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder Brian Buscher on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to Aug. 7) with an infection in his right leg.

To replace Buscher on the 25-man roster, the Twins will select the contract of infielder Tommy Watkins from Triple-A Rochester in time for Friday afternoon’s game. In 110 games with the Red Wings, Watkins batted .272 (95-for-349) with 22 doubles, eight home runs and 49 rbi, with 39 walks and 12 stolen bases. Watkins will wear uniform No. 61.

Watkins is a graduate of Riverdale High School in Fort Myers and had also played for the Fort Myers Miracle, Minnesota's Class A Florida State League team, previously in his career.

Naples High graduate Carmen Cali, a left-handed relief pitcher, was called up recently as well by the Twins.
