By David Dorsey Fort Myers Miracle left fielder/first baseman Erik Lis made the Florida State League All-League Team that was released Monday. Lis, 23, the only Miracle player on the team, has compiled a few accolades along the way. He earned two consecutive league Player of the Week awards. Entering Monday, Lis was hitting .276, with a team-high 16 home runs and 91 RBI. Earlier this season, Lis slugged a solo home run against current New York Yankees starter Roger Clemens, then making a minor-league start for the Tampa Yankees. Dunedin Blue Jays first baseman Josh Kreuzer won the league's Most Valuable Player award. He was hitting .307, with 20 home runs, 70 RBI and one stolen base. Yankees pitcher Eric Wordekemper won the Pitcher of the Year award. Through last week, he had compiled a 0.60 ERA, a 2-0 record and a league-best 31 saves. At 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Hammond Stadium, the Miracle are scheduled to face the Sarasota Reds. Miracle director of promotions Andrew Seymour announced that the club would have half-price beer, the "Thursty Thursday" prices on a "Winning Wednesday." The game also will mark the retirement of 17-year beer vendor Dan "Beerman" Campos, who will be moving to Crossville, Tenn., at the end of the year. Prizes for fans of all ages will be handed out throughout the game. LOU GEHRIG NIGHTThe Miracle will be teaming up with the ALS Association Florida Chapter on Wednesday for "Lou Gehrig Night." Fans are encouraged to sign up for "Ks for a Cure Club" and pledge up to $25 per strikeout of an opposing team's batter. The proceeds will be donated to The ALS Association Florida Chapter. Fans also can lend their support by purchasing Strike Out ALS wristbands and raffle tickets for Miracle memorabilia, including autographed baseballs. Dara Alexander, president of the Florida Chapter, will explain new ALS patient services that are now available in Southwest Florida. Veronica Stewart will sing the National Anthem, and Cape Coral Mayor Eric Feichthaler will throw out the first pitch. One dollar of every ticket will be donated to the Florida Chapter to fight ALS.
