Jason Kubel and Justin Morneau are gone but not forgotten.

The two former Red Wings were named to the International League All-Star team on Tuesday, with Kubel also earning rookie of the year honors.

The outfielder, who joined the parent Minnesota Twins Tuesday night, is the first Rochester player to earn top rookie honors since Luis Mercedes in 1991.

Kubel, 22, played in 90 games for the Wings and currently leads the IL in batting at .343. He also had 16 home runs and 71 runs batted in.

Morneau, also with Minnesota, hit .306 with a team-high 22 home runs and 63 RBI. The first baseman played in 72 games for Rochester, one above the minimum needed for All-Star eligibility.

Buffalo's Marty Brown became the third Bisons skipper to earn Manager of the Year honors after leading the club to the league's best record.

Bisons shortstop Jhonny Peralta, who entered Tuesday 10 points behind Kubel in the batting race, was named league MVP.

The league's Most Valuable Pitcher is Indianapolis right-hander Ben Hendrickson, who is 11-3 with a 2.02 earned-run average.

Voting was conducted among the league's managers, coaches, media members and club officials.

This is the first time two Red Wings have been selected to the post-season IL All-Star team since Jeff Manto and Sherman Obando in 1994.
