Fort Myers Miracle news

By Daily News staff

It wasn't hard to distinguish which of the two teams was going to the playoffs in Thursday night's game at Knology Park, as the Fort Myers Miracle were trounced by the playoff-bound Dunedin Blue Jays, 10-1.

The Blue Jays, winners of the first-half Western Division title, exploded for six runs in the third inning to put the game away.

With the Blue Jays leading 2-1 in the third, they sent 11 men to the plate, scoring six runs on two singles, two doubles, two hit batsmen, a walk and two sacrifice flies.

With the Most Valuable Pitcher in the FSL, Ismael Ramirez, on the mound for the Blue Jays, it was more than enough.

Ramirez went five innings and allowed just one run on seven hits while walking one and striking out two.

The Miracle trailed 1-0 in the second, but tied it up when Garrett Guzman singled, stole second and scored on a Jesus Merchan RBI single.

The same two teams play tonight at 7:05. The Miracle send left-hander Ricky Barrett (5-1, 3.52) to the hill against Blue Jays righty Chad Pleiness (4-3, 4.40).
