Special to The News-Press With less than a week to go in the Florida State League season, the Fort Myers Miracle proved they aren’t quite thinking about going home as they swept a doubleheader from the Lakeland Tigers 6-3 and 4-1. In game one, the Miracle scored six runs in the first two innings. In the first, Danny Matienzo doubled and Doug Deeds walked. Elvis Corporan doubled them both in. Corporan would score on an RBI double from Jesus Merchan. In the second inning Alex Romero hit a three-run homer, his team leading sixth of the season. Miracle starter Matt Yeatman went 5.1 innings allowing three unearned runs on just two hits while walking two and striking out two. In the second game it was another big inning that propelled Fort Myers to victory. The four-run second inning gave Miracle starter Manny Tejada all the support he needed. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Kaulana Kuhaulua singled home a pair of runs. Alex Romero followed that with a two-run double. Tejada carried a no hitter into the fifth before giving up a one-out double to Scott Moore. Tejada allowed one run on three hits while walking one and striking out six. The Miracle now head to Dunedin to take on the Blue Jays at 7:05 tonight. Fort Myers sends right-hander Nick Blackburn (3-2, 4.84 ERA) to the hill.
