Twins release spring schedule

The Minnesota Twins, three-time defending American League Central champions, released their spring schedule Friday.

Highlights include home and away games against the World Series champion and spring cross-town rival Boston Red Sox.

The Twins open their Grapefruit League schedule against the Red Sox at City of Palms Park on Thursday, March 3, with a 7:05 p.m. game.

The Twins, who have trained at the Lee County Sports Complex since 1991, play their first home spring game March 4 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The American League East champion New York Yankees are scheduled to visit the Twins on March 26.

Twins pitchers and catchers report to spring training Feb. 20 and begin workouts Feb. 21.

The remainder of the squad is scheduled to report Feb. 25 with workouts scheduled to begin Feb. 26.

Tickets for home games are $18 and $16.

Tickets are available by calling (612) 33-TWINS or (800) 33-TWINS, the team's Web site, www.twinsbaseball.com, or the stadium box office beginning Saturday, Jan. 8. The box office will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8.

Normal box office hours will then be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
