Schedule Features Free Skills Clinics for SW Florida Youth

Minnesota Twins Press Release

Minneapolis/St.Paul -- The Twins Community Fund announced today that it will host 19 free Minnesota Twins Youth Clinics from January 15th - February 15th in southwest Florida. The Minnesota Twins Youth Clinics, presented by the Lee County Parks and Recreation and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, give youth from throughout Southwest Florida the opportunity to learn the games of baseball and softball. The three-hour clinics require no registration and are open to boys and girls ages 5 to 16. The clinics will be broken into two 90-minute sessions; the first for ages 5 - 9 years old and the second for ages 10 - 16. Twins players and coaches will teach proper hitting, fielding, and throwing at each. Parents are encouraged to participate with their sons or daughters.

The Minnesota Twins have held Spring Training at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers since 1991. The Twins Class A affiliate the Fort Myers Miracle play at the Lee County Complex as well.

The Twins Community Fund is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich local and regional communities by providing resources for the healthy development of children and families through an association with baseball, softball and the Minnesota Twins. The Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund annually distribute more than $2.5 million in community support.

The Youth Clinic Program was created in 1961 by longtime Twins scout Angelo Guiliani. Since that time, more than 850,000 youth have participated in a Minnesota Twins Youth Clinic. The complete Lee County clinic schedule follows (NOTE: SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE).
