The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have outrighted outfielders Lew Ford, Josh Rabe and infielder Tommy Watkins off the 40-man Major League roster.

Watkins, a Riverdale High graduate, appeared in nine games, batting .357 (10-for-28) before going on the disabled list with a groin injury on Aug. 23. It is possible Watkins, 27, could re-sign with the team, or he could choose to become a free agent.

Ford appeared in 55 games, batting .233 (27-for-116) with six doubles, three home runs and 14 rbi with the Twins in 2007. Rabe appeared in 14 games, batting .194 (6-for-31) with two rbi. He missed the final 127 games of the season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

In addition, infielder Luis Rodriguez was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres. Rodriguez batted .219 (34-for-155) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs and 12 rbi in 68 games with the Twins in 2007.
