Fort Myers Miracle news

By Daily News staff

The Fort Myers Miracle pushed across a run in the 10th inning to beat the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-2, on Thursday night at Hammond Stadium and take three games in the four-game series.

Kaulana Kuhaula led off the 10th with a single. After Jesus Merchan walked, Trent Oeltjen tried to sacrifice the runners over, but first baseman Vito Chiaravalloti forced Kuhaulua at third. After Felix Molina walked, Danny Matienzo lined a single to right that scored Merchan for the victory.

Reliever Levale Speigner tossed three hitless innings, walking one and striking out four, including the side in the 10th, to get the win.

The Miracle got an unusual power surge to score their first two runs. In the third, Oeltjen hit his second homer of the season and second in as many days to give the Miracle a 1-0 lead. The very next pitch to Molina went over the right field wall for his third homer of the season.

Fort Myers starter Matt Yeatman didn't allow a hit until the fifth, but gave up a run in that inning. Dunedin scored again in the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.

The Miracle head on the road for four games against the Brevard County Manatees at Space Coast Stadium. The Miracle send Jeff Randazzo (3-9, 4.81) to the hill against the Manatees' Michael O' Connor (7-6, 3.76).
