Special to The News-Press The Fort Myers Miracle split a Florida State League doubleheader Wednesday at the Lee County Sports Complex, letting game two get away against the Port St. Lucie Mets. Fort Myers lost a two-run lead late in game two. The Miracle wound up losing 4-3 in eight innings. Fort Myers won game one 3-2 in seven innings. In game one, the Miracle scored all three runs in the fourth inning after Mets starter Brian Bannister pitched a perfect three innings. With the Miracle down 2-0, Alex Romero led off with a single. Ron Perodin walked and Danny Matienzo singled in Romero. Doug Deeds' fielder's choice scored Perodin to tie the game at two. Jose Morales doubled to put runners at second and third and an RBI groundout by Garrett Guzman scored the deciding run. Miracle starter Jeff Randazzo wasn't sharp, but he pitched well enough to get his fifth victory of the season. He tossed 5.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits while walking five and striking out three. Pat Neshek came in to pitch the final 1.1 innings and struck out the side in the seventh for his first save of the season. In game two, the Miracle scored two runs in the third inning on a sac fly from Matienzo and an RBI single from Deeds. The Mets scored two runs in the sixth on Lastings Milledge's two-RBI single. In the eighth, Bobby Malek hit his eighth homer of the season and Milledge doubled in a run. The Miracle scored one run in the bottom half. The teams play again at 7:05 tonight.
