Former Miracle outfielder Alex Romero, now with the New Britain Rock Cats was named Twins' Minor League Player of the Month.

Meanwhile Rochester closer Travis Bowyer picked up the Pitcher of the Month honors.

Romero, an everyday left-fielder for the Cats that was left off the Eastern League All-Star roster, made a complete turnaround from May.

In May, Romero only batted .198 in his 27 games. He hit only two home runs while driving in 11. In all, he saw his batting average dip from .266 to .225.

June has been a different story all together for the 21-year old slugger. He played in all 30 games this month, compiling a .342 batting average in 114 at-bats. He hit six home runs, which was two more than he had all season.

He finally began to utilize his ability to hit the ball into gaps by slugging 15 extra-base hits. Batting mostly from the six hole, Romero swung at a .596 clip with an on base percentage of .375.

Bowyer, who played with the Miracle in 2003 & 2004, was virtually unhittable in June. He was selected to two All-Star teams earlier in the month as well.

The right-hander had an ERA of 0.00 in his 11 appearances, saving five games.

All month long he would handcuff batters, holding the opposition to a miniscule .108 batting average. He ended the month with two wins and no losses, allowing only four hits in his 11.1 innings of work.

The reining save leader in the International League, Bowyer is in line for a September call-up this fall.
