By Daily News staff Scott Whitrock had a pair of RBI doubles to help the Fort Myers Miracle blow open a close game and beat the St. Lucie Mets, 10-6, on Thursday night in Port St. Lucie. The Miracle led 6-4 when Matt Tolbert had an RBI single and Whitrock followed with an RBI double in the sixth. In the seventh, Whitrock added another RBI double. He later scored when he stole third and came home when the third baseman dropped the ball. Justin Jones gave up three homers in five-plus innings, but picked up the win. Jannio Gutierrez went 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run to get his third save. The same two teams meet tonight at 7 at Tradition Field. Webposted July 8, 2005 |
