By Daily News staff The Fort Myers Miracle had no offense and the Palm Beach Cardinals had just enough, as the Cardinals beat the Miracle, 1-0, on Monday night at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. The Cardinals (11-8, 41-48) got their lone run in the top of the ninth, as designated hitter Brian Martin doubled in Palm Beach's first at-bat of the inning and, three batters later, right fielder Terry Martin singled through the left side to bring Brian Martin home. The Miracle (9-7, 46-34) could muster only three hits off pitchers Jose Garcia and Mark Worrell. Garcia pitched eight innings, giving up three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk. Reliever Jan Granado pitched the last two innings for the Miracle and got the loss. The two teams play again this afternoon at 12:05 at Hammond Stadium. Webposted July 12, 2005 |
