By Daily News staff Fort Myers Miracle manager Riccardo Ingram noticed that the Sarasota Reds were batting out of order in the second inning. So Sarasota manager Edgar Caceres made some changes, including putting in .186-hitting Jeff Urgelles. Urgelles ended up going 3-for-4 with doubles, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Reds to a 6-2 victory in Sarasota on Friday night. Brock Petersen's hitting streak came to an end at 16 games, three short of the franchise record of 19 set by Joe Mauer in 2003 and Doug Deeds in 2004. Down 4-0, the Miracle rallied with an RBI double by Trent Oeltjen and Mark Zamojc's solo homer, but Sarasota answered with a pair of runs in the seventh. The teams meet tonight at 5:05, with Adam Harben (7-4) going for the Miracle and Tyler Pelland (3-5) pitching for Sarasota. Webposted July 23, 2005 |
