Miracle gets shutout for 17th time

With Florida Marlins big-leaguers Cody Ross and Aaron Boone in Fort Myers for a rehab stint with the Jupiter Hammerheads Wednesday night, starter Brett Sinkbeil wanted to give the guys a little taste of what might be to come in the near future.

The first-round pick of the Marlins a year ago dealt the first complete game shutout of his career in a 3-0 win over the Miracle at Hammond Stadium.

Sinkbeil’s line read nine innings, no runs, seven hits, with a walk and four strikeouts. The biggest jam Sinkbeil had was a leadoff double by Erik Lis in the second. A couple of fly balls and a line drive later, Sinkbeil was out of the jam.

Boone brought in the first run of the night in a two-run Jupiter fourth, but he tweaked his left knee that originally sent him to the disabled list.

The Miracle look to bounce back Thursday night in game two of the series.
