Special to the Cape CoralDaily Breeze VERO BEACH — The Fort Myers Miracle hitting display continued Wednesday night as the Miracle scored 10 unanswered runs on 13 hits in a 10-2 win over the Vero Beach Devil Rays. The Miracle belted four home runs to take three of four from the Rays and have won six of their last seven games. In the four-game series, the Miracle hit nine long balls and picked up a total of 48 hits. Miracle starter Jeff Manship (4-1) was phenomenal, tossing eight innings, allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts. Vero Beach scored its only two runs in the bottom of the first as Garrett Groce and Josh Paul led off with singles. Rhyne Hughes grounded into a double play to score one run and Sergio Pedroza followed with his third homer of the series for a two-run lead. The Miracle (13-14) scored four in the third and never looked back. A two-run triple by Erik Lis tied the game at 2-2 before Danny Valencia belted his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right. A lead-off walk in the sixth to Johnny Woodard proved beneficial later as Edward Ovalle cracked an opposite-field homer to right making it 6-2. Brian Dinkelman added a long ball to right to make the cushion five runs, while extending his hitting streak to 11 straight games. Hitless until the eighth, Tolleson made up for everything by crushing a three-run blast to left for the final lead of 10-2. The Miracle road trip continues Thursday night in Sarasota.
