The Florida State League announced today that Fort Myers third baseman Danny Valencia has been named the FSL Offensive Player of the week for July 16-22.

Valencia hit safely in every game but one last week and helped the Miracle stay alive in the West Division by pounding out 11 hits and 10 RBIs in the team's last seven games. The former University of Miami standout helped Fort Myers duke out a 6-4 win at Vero Beach Tuesday by driving in three runs with a double and homer. The next day he went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, helping Fort Myers crush the Devil Rays, 10-2.

vHe is currently hitting .302 with four homers and 17 RBI in 30 games. The Boca Raton, Florida native was the Twins 19th round pick in the June 2006 draft.

Valencia is the first Miracle hitter to garner the FSL honor. Previously, pitchers Yohan Pino and Kyle Waldrop have been named FSL Pitcher’s of the Week.

Last night, Jeff Manship set a career high with 12 strikeouts in seven innings as visiting Fort Myers dropped Lakeland, 4-1. Game two of the three-game series is tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Miracle return home on Thursday to open a nine-game home stand.
