By Special to the Naples Daily News FORT MYERS — New York Yankee Jason Giambi will make a minor league rehab appearance Friday night at Hammond Stadium. Giambi, out since May 30 with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, will join the Tampa Yankees for game two of the three-game series with the Fort Myers Miracle. He is batting .262 with seven homers and 23 RBIs in 45 games. The 36-year old is scheduled to be the DH. The length of Giambi’s rehab has not been determined. The Miracle wrap up their series with Tampa on Saturday. Giambi has been involved in baseball's steroids controversy. He met with Sen. George Mitchell, who is conducting a steroids investigation for Major League Baseball, to discuss statements he made to the media regarding the subject.
