LAKELAND — Lakeland starter Burke Badenhop improved to 4-0 against Fort Myers this season as the Flying Tigers beat the Miracle 3-2 on Tuesday at Joker Marchant Stadium in Florida State League play.

Badenhop pitched six innings, allowing one run on five hits.

The Miracle had a rough start. After loading the bases in the top of the first inning, they failed to score.

Lakeland responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning on doubles by Deik Scram and Michael Hernandez and an RBI groundout by Justin Justice.

The Miracle cut the lead in half in the second as Alexander Soto's double scored Dwayne White, who had singled. Soto, just added to the Miracle roster on Monday, went 2-for-4 in the defeat.

After the Flying Tigers scored a run in the eighth inning, the Miracle cut the lead to one in the ninth on a solo homer by Johnny Woodard. But they could not score again.

The Miracle send RHP Jay Rainville to the mound against Lakeland tonight.
