Palm Beach Post Staff Reports JUPITER — Palm Beach pitcher P.J. Walters held Clearwater to one run in six innings, leading the Cardinals to a 3-1 win against the Threshers at Roger Dean Stadium on Friday. Walters (3-1) gave up four hits, struck out six and walked two to earn the victory. Jon Mikrut pitched two scoreless innings and Luke Gregorson pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 19th save on the season. Left fielder Luke Gorsett was 2-for-2 and second baseman Isaias Garcia was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Palm Beach. Miracle 8, Hammerheads 3: Fort Myers collected 17 hits and grabbed an early 5-1 lead before cruising to the rout of visiting Jupiter. Marlins right fielder Cody Ross, who is rehabbing a left-hamstring injury, was 2-for-4 with a home run for Jupiter. Hammerheads first baseman Gaby Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Jupiter starting pitcher Ryan Tucker (5-5) gave up five runs on 10 hits in four innings. Fort Myers was led by third baseman Daniel Valencia, a former University of Miami standout, who was 4-for-5 with two RBI. Designated hitter Steven Tolleson was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Yankees 3, Mets 2 (10): Jose Tabata doubled home Austin Jackson in the top of the 10th as Tampa topped host St. Lucie at Tradition Field. Designated hitter Ender Chavez was 2-for-3 to lead the Mets. First baseman Nick Evans added a solo home run, his ninth of the season. German Marte (1-2) took the loss after giving up one run on two hits in three innings.
