When the Rochester Red Wings play host to the Indianapolis Indians tonight at 7:05 at Frontier Field, they will be missing one of their top offensive players.

The parent Minnesota Twins have recalled first baseman/outfielder Garrett Jones, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported this morning. Jones, 26, is hitting .295 with 11 home runs and 58 runs batted in with the Wings. In an earlier stint with Minnesota this season, Jones went 1-for-8.

Jones was recalled for the Twins' home series with the Oakland Athletics that starts tonight because veteran Minnesota outfielder Rondell White remains bogged down with injuries. White, who has been out for most of the season with a torn calf muscle in his right leg, now is battling a sore left hamstring.

The Twins had hoped to activate White for the series with Oakland, but instead, he will get some at-bats with a farm club in Florida in the next few days, the Star-Tribune reported.

The Red Wings, in third place in the International League's North Division with a 47-42 record, trail Buffalo by three games and second-place Scranton-Wilkes/Barre by a half-game.

After completing the four-game home series with Indianapolis, the Wings embark on an eight-game road trip to Syracuse and Ottawa next week.
