Beloit Snappers Press Release The Minnesota Twins have promoted Snappers’ catcher Allan de San Miguel to the Class A Advanced Affiliate, Fort Myers Miracle. Replacing de San Miguel will be the Twins’ 19th round pick of the 2007 June draft, catcher/outfielder Ben Petsch. Both moves are effective today, July 21st. Allan is batting .190 in 34 games played so far this season. de San Miguel has three doubles, four home runs, and 30 RBI in 105 at-bats. Allan also has a .989 fielding percentage this year. Taking Allan’s place will be Ben Petsch. Ben played baseball for the University of Belmont where he served as the team co-captain in 2006. In 2006, Petsch set the single season record for doubles with 21. He also holds Belmont University’s single season records in games played, games started, and at-bats. In 22 games played this season for the Elizabethton Twins, Petsch is batting .296 with two home runs and 14 RBI. Ben will join the Snappers tonight when they take on the Great Lakes Loons at 6:30 pm. The move leaves the Snappers’ active roster at 24, one below the Midwest League maximum. The Snappers are the First Half Midwest League Western Division Champions! The Snappers will play host to the Second Half Midwest League Western Division Wild Card Team in games two and three (if necessary) on September 6th and 7th right here at beautiful Pohlman Field.
