By SPECIAL TO THE NEWS-PRESS For the fifth consecutive day, the Fort Myers Miracle had a game disrupted by rain. This time, Sunday's Florida State League contest against the Dunedin Blue Jays at the Lee County Sports Complex got in a half-inning before the rain fell. Fort Myers starter Adam Harben allowed a walk, a single and struck out three in the top of the first inning. After Blue Jays starter David Purcey completed his warmup tosses, the skies opened up. After a 45-minute delay, the game was called. The teams will attempt to play a doubleheader this afternoon, beginning at 4:05. Game one will pick up in the bottom of the first inning, with the game scoreless. It is scheduled for nine innings. The second game is set to begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first and is scheduled to be a seven-inning contest. Webposted June 6, 2005 |
