By SPECIAL TO THE NEWS-PRESS Rain continues to wreak havoc on the Fort Myers Miracle, raining out Thursday's Florida State League game against the Tampa Yankees. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. today at Tampa's Legends Field — Tropical Storm Arlene permitting. The Miracle now have three doubleheaders over the next five days — today's twinbill in Tampa, a doubleheader Saturday at Lakeland and another Tuesday at home with the Clearwater Threshers. For a Fort Myers team battling it out for the FSL Western Division title, with just 11 games left in the first half, it's becoming a tough task. The Miracle will start left-hander Errol Simonitsch (6-2, 2.76 ERA) against Tampa All-Star lefty Abel Gomez (2-1, 2.73) in the first game. Webposted June 10, 2005 |
