Miracle lose 8-2 in shortened game

Miracle centerfielder Edward Ovalle had a two-run triple in the first inning Thursday night but the Miracle’s offense was blanked by the Devil Rays over the next six innings in an 8-2 loss.

The Devil Rays scored two runs in the second, three in the third and added a run in the sixth. They scored two runs in the seventh and the game was called after the inning.

Vero Beach designated hitter Erold Andrus had a solo home run and the Devil Rays smacked three doubles.

Jay Rainville took the mound for the Miracle and allowed five runs on six hits in three innings.

The Miracle, who had a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Vero Beach on Wednesday, had won three-straight games.

The Miracle and Devil Rays continue the series Friday night at Hammond Stadium. Start time is 7:05 p.m.
