Special to the Cape Coral Daily Breeze Clearwater starter Josh Outman went six innings allowing five hits with nine strikeouts as the Threshers blanked the Fort Myers Miracle 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Miracle’s two-game win streak was snapped and they remained winless in four tries this season at Bright House Networks Field. Both teams had six hits, but the Threshers put the hits together at the right time. An RBI-single from Nic Jackson in the third and a groundout from John Urick in the sixth gave the Threshers their pair of runs. The Miracle had several quality chances as Edward Ovalle and Erik Lis each smacked a one-out double, but Outman and the Threshers ended each of the threats. Lis drew a leadoff walk in the sixth, but Outman came back to strikeout the side in his final inning of work. Reliever Bear Hill tossed the final three innings to preserve the shutout allowing just one hit with three strikeouts. The Miracle fanned a dozen times against the duo of Outman and Hill. Game two of the series is Monday night beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Miracle sends right-hander Zach Ward (2-7, 2.56) to the mound as the Threshers counter with right-hander Carlos Carrasco (5-2, 3.26).
