The St. Lucie Mets scored six unanswered runs, including four in the eighth inning, to grab a 6-1 victory from the Fort Myers Miracle Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium.

Emmanuel Garcia (4-for-5) and Daniel Murphy (2-for-4, 3 RBI) provided the Mets’ offense in the win.

After Edward Ovalle reached on an error in the third inning, Dwayne White laced a single to center, putting runners at the corners with no outs. Caleb Moore hit into a double play to plate Ovalle, but ended the offensive threat.

The Mets tied it up with Murphy’s first RBI-single of the night in the sixth. His second run-scoring hit in the eighth brought home Garcia to trigger the four-run rally. Murphy’s hit started a string of three straight RBI singles for a 4-1 lead.

With one out in the eighth, Ambiorix Concepcion and Josh Peterson pulled a double steal as Rafael Arroyo struck out, but Moore’s throw to second allowed Concepcion to score on the play. Murphy picked up his third RBI with a bases-loaded, sacrifice-fly to right for the game’s final run. Murphy just missed a grand slam as Ovalle made the catch at the base of the right-field wall.

The Miracle’s seven-game homestand continues Thursday night with the second game against the Mets. The Miracle send newcomer Jeff Manship to the mound.
