FORT MYERS — The St. Lucie Mets rolled up six unanswered runs, including a four-spot in the eighth, to grab a 6-1 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium.

Emmanuel Garcia, 4-for-5 with two runs scored, and Daniel Murphy, 2-for-4 with three RBI, provided the Mets offense in the win.

The Miracle scored first in the third as one run crossed the plate when Caleb Moore hit into a double play.

The Mets tied it up with Murphy’s first RBI-single of the night in the sixth. His second RBI hit, in the eighth, brought home Garcia, triggering the four-run frame. RBI singles from Ambiorix Concepcion and Josh Peterson gave the Mets a 4-1 lead.

Game two of the series and homestand will fire off at 7:05 p.m. tonight. It’s “Thursty Thursday” as the Miracle send newcomer Jeff Manship (0-0, 0.00) to the mound opposite Mets Jonathan Niese (6-3, 4.91).
