By Daily News staff A day after earning the top record in the Florida State League, the Fort Myers Miracle were beaten by Lakeland, 8-1, on Sunday at Hammond Stadium, allowing the Tigers to retake first place in the FSL's Western Division. After Fort Myers spotted Lakeland three runs in the first inning, Kyle Geiger gave the Miracle their lone run in the fourth with a solo home run to left field. It was Geiger's second homer of the season and the first homer by the Miracle at home this season. Fort Myers starter Scott Tyler went five innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out four. The Miracle were held to five hits and had just three runners reach as far as second base. They now trail the Tigers by a half-game. Fort Myers and Lakeland meet again tonight at 7:05. Webposted 05/02/05 |
