By Daily News staff Matt Moses hit a home run in the ninth inning to send Monday night's game into extra frames, where the Fort Myers Miracle defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals, 2-1, in 11 innings at Roger Dean Stadium. The Miracle struggled against Cardinals starter Stuart Pomerantz. He hurled eight shutout innings and allowed eight hits while striking out eight. The Cardinals turned it over to their closer, Mark Worrell, in the ninth. Moses, on the first pitch, belted one over the right-field wall for his fifth homer of the season, tying the game at one. In the 11th, Felix Molina hit a run-scoring ground-rule double to give the Miracle the 2-1 lead. The Miracle take today off and begin a four game series against the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Webposted 05/10/05 |
