The Fort Myers Miracle cruised to an 11-4 win over the Brevard County Manatees in Florida State League action Saturday night at Hammond Stadium.

For the first time since April 30, the Miracle gained ground on the first-place Lakeland Tigers, who lost Saturday night to Jupiter.

Fort Myers is five games back of Lakeland.

Miracle starting pitcher Scott Tyler was sharp. He went seven innings, allowing one run — a solo homer to C.J. Medlin in the seventh inning — on three hits while walking one and striking out seven. Tyler threw 88 pitches, 64 for strikes, and, at one point, retired 15 straight.

Left fielder Trent Oeltjen provided much of the offense for the Miracle, blasting a pair of two-run homers and knocking in five.
