New Britain, CT -- The New Britain Rock Cats announced another 2006 roster transaction this afternoon, this time involving two pitchers. The associated details are:

RHP Justin Olson, a 26-year-old University of Illinois product who resides in Oak Park, IL, has been placed on the 7-Day Disabled List due a sprained left knee. A non-drafted free agent signed by Minnesota in June of 2003, Olson is in his second season with the Rock Cats. The 6'3"/215lbs.hurler made 9 relief appearances for New Britain in 2006, compiling a record of 1-2, with 1 Save. His lone victory came on Thursday, May 4, when he tossed 2.2 innings out of the bullpen against Harrisburg.

LHP John Thomas, a 24-year-old resident of Santa Maria, CA will be joining the Rock Cats from the Ft. Myers Miracle in the Single-A Florida State League. A member of the 2005 New Britain squad (5-4 in 39 appearances), Thomas commenced the 2006 season in Ft. Myers where he appeared in five games all as a starter and over a total of 24.2 innings of work compiled a W-L record of 1-1. His K/BB ratio was a most impressive 24/3.

Both moves are effective immediately; it is expected that Thomas will arrive in Connecticut in time to participate in tomorrow (5/7) afternoon's 1:35 PM home game against Portland, the Boston Red Sox Eastern League affiliate.
