FORT MYERS, FL – Apparently the early wake up call for the Fort Myers Miracle didn’t agree with their offense as they were shutout for the first time this season, losing to the Dunedin Blue Jays 3-0 in a 10:35 a.m. start at Hammond Stadium.

The Miracle, who fell to 15-10, managed just six singles and had a couple of opportunities to score, but never got the big base hit. In the fourth the Miracle had first and third with one out but Erold Andrus grounded into a double play.

In the sixth the Miracle had runners at first and second and one out, but Brock Peterson flew out to left and Andrus flew out to center. The last chance for the Miracle came in the ninth, when they sent the tying run to the plate, but pinch hitter Garrett Guzman struck out to end the ballgame.

Miracle starter John Thomas pitched well, but two mistakes cost him. In the first inning he gave up a lead off single to Christopher Gutierrez. With one out Ron Davenport doubled over the head of Deacon Burns in center that scored Gutierrez to make it 1-0.

In the sixth, Thomas gave up a bunt single to Robinson Diaz. With two outs Aaron Matthews doubled him to third and Ryan Klosterman scored them both on a two run double off the left field wall. Thomas went 6.0 innings allowing three runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Miracle welcome the Lakeland Tigers to town beginning Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. in the first game of a three game series. The Miracle send RHP Matt Garza (3-0, 0.74) to the hill against Tiger RHP Andrew Kown (NR).
