FORT MYERS, FL – There were a lot of key players that helped the Fort Myers Miracle get into the playoffs, but there was no one bigger than first baseman Brock Peterson who was honored by the Florida State League with the TOPPS Player of the month for August.

The 22-year-old Peterson had an incredible month hitting .349-7-25 in 31 games. In 109 at bats he ripped eight doubles while walking 12 times and scoring 18 runs. Peterson set the single season home run mark (21) and career homer mark (33) by a Miracle player.

It has been a career year for Peterson hitting .291-21-75 in 121 games. In 447 at bats he has 21 doubles, four triples and scored 65 runs while amassing 130 hits. He had a .356 on base percentage and a slugging percentage of .497. He became the first Miracle player to hold a share of the home run title with his 21 dingers. He was also second in the league in slugging percentage and tied for ninth in batting average.

Peterson was a 49th round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2002 out of W.F. West High School in Washington. This is the second straight TOPPS player of the month award for the Miracle. Outfielder Brandon Roberts received the award for his tremendous play in the month of July.
