New Britain/Ft. Myers righthanded pitcher Scott Baker is the Twins’ Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May, 2004. Baker, 22, was 4-0, 2.41 (41.0 ip, 11 er) with 6 walks and 30 strikeouts in 6 starts, holding opponents to 6.6 hits per-9-innings had a .193 batting-average-against.
Scott Baker, a righthanded pitcher for the New Britain Rock Cats, has been named the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 23rd. The 6'4", 190 lb. hurler was 2-0 with 10 strikeouts and a 0.60 ERA in two starts last week after being called up from Single-A Ft. Myers. Baker was near perfect in his Double-A debut, tossing a complete game shutout in the second game of a doubleheader against Portland on Tuesday. Baker was one out away from throwing a perfect game, giving up his first and only hit of the game with two outs in the 7th inning. On Sunday the 22-year old went eight innings and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out six batters to pick up a win against Norwich. Scott was selected by the Minnesota Twins out of Oklahoma State University in the 2nd round of the June 2003 draft.
Class A righthander Scott Baker was named Twins minor league player of the week for the priod ended May 9, 2004. Baker, the Twins' second round pick last year, was 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA in two starts. He is 3-2 with a 1.62 ERA overall.
